Finding Inspiration in Someone Else's Dream

Updated: Apr 29

If you're stuck trying to figure out what to do with your life, check out what other people are doing with theirs. Sometimes all we need is a little inspiration. When we open up to the Universe and say, 'Show me,' it's amazing to see the guidance that is given. Usually, there is someone in our life that we admire or wish we could be like or do the things they do. Take some time to look at your circle of friends, and you might find the answer you are looking for.

I'm currently sitting in a friend's new cake shop in Toronto. The atmosphere is laid-back and eclectic, with subtle pinks mixed with antique whites, and old music plays quietly throughout the shop. The smell of baked goods is intoxicating, and my entire system settles as I sit back with a cup of tea and a cupcake. As I look around, I feel inspired. Not just because of the tasty food but because I am witnessing the beginning of someone's dream. A small idea of 'wouldn't it be nice' has developed into a full-blown reality. To see the transition from idea to physical existence is simply amazing. And once again, I smile at how awe-some the Universe really is.

Sitting back, all my ideas and thoughts of 'Wouldn't it be nice...' are resurfacing. In the energy of someone else's success, I'm inspired to look closer at my own dreams. As I watch the traffic trickle in and see the joy emulating from my friend, I feel nothing but proud love. There is no jealousy, only the new desire to recreate this experience for myself. When it comes to life's purpose, it doesn't matter what you choose to do; it only matters that you love it. As I've said before, love is all there is—and this should stretch to our professional and personal lives.
